According to eye witnesses account, a Toyota Hiace bus with plate number, LAGOS EKY-733 XD, conveying passengers from Lagos, rammed into a trailer parked by the road side.
The accident which reportedly occurred around 12:30pm in the afternoon, which speculations that the bus must have lost control and hit the truck which palte number was – SMK 799 XN.
Confirming the accident. the Edo state police command public relations officer, DSP Stephen Onwochei, said bodies of the victims had been deposited at the University of Benin Teaching Hospital (UBTH) mortuary.
According to him, the casualties are four females and three males, including the driver of the passenger bus. He subsequently advised drivers to drive with care during and after the ember months.
The spate of accidents on Nigerian roads these past few days is been worrisome. On Wednesday, September 2, fourteen people died and many others were injured at Ogunmakin on the Lagos – Ibadan expressway in two crashes, according to authorities.
On the same day, a heavy duty container skidded off the Ojuelegba bridge in Lagos and landed on two private cars, crushing occupants in the vehicles.
A day later, another ghastly accident claimed the lives of 11 bus passengers and a driver who were travelling from Lagos to the eastern part of the country.
