A terrible accident occurred yesterday, September 3, at Ojuelegba in Lagos state as a heavy duty container skidded off the popular Ojuelegba bridge and landed on two private cars, crushing occupants in the vehicles. At least three people were reported killed in the accident, but one Lasisi Akeem reportedly survived the accident. A grateful Akeem who spoke to the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA), said he was full of praises to God.

Joe Adedeji, a banker who spoke with pinnacle correspondent, said the constant re-occurrence of such road mishaps, call to question the plans put in place to rid the roads of rickety buses and rickety trucks and trailers that ply the highways.

Adedeji urged the government and the authorities concerned with safety on the road, to ensure that such mishaps are averted, by ensuring that the roads are properly maintained and the vehicles in perfect order to be driven.

He also pleaded that a quick intervention be made to help ease grid-locks, and aid the free flow of traffic jams as he claimed that traffic jams also pose a threat to Lagosians.

Micro-blogging site, Twitter, has also been buzzing since the news broke out yesterday and Naij.com has been monitoring comments of Nigerians as regards the incident.
