Watford striker, Odion Ighalo has said his spirit is not dampened by his exclusion from the Super Eagles’ list to face Taifa Stars of Tanzania next month as he plans to work harder.
Coach Sunday Oliseh excluded Ighalo’s from his 18-man foreign-based list for the crucial encounter billed for Dar es Salaam on September 5.
The former Udinese striker said that his exclusion from the squad would rather afford him the opportunity to continue working for his team towards ensuring that he makes the list in future invitations.
Ighalo, who praised the decision of Oliseh to come out in the open expressed optimism that he still has a future in the Eagles.
Oliseh had said after releasing the 18-man list that Ighalo remains in his plans despite the exclusion.
“I will say I am satisfied with the fact that I will keep on working hard on doing my best for my club which I hope will earn me a recall to the Eagles’ fold. I cannot fault his decision because he (Oliseh) is the boss,” the forward who scored 20 goals last season to aid Watford’s promotion to the English Premier League told Goal.
Ighalo scored in the Premier League’s opener but saw his side fail to build on the away draw against Everton as they were held at home by West Bromwich Albion last weekend.
The former Lyn Oslo of Norway striker will be looking forward to scoring his 18th goal this year when Watford hosts Southampton tomorrow in a week three EPL fixture.
